Freelance graphic designer, web developer, 3D artist, and founder of JOE Design, Inc.
I'm a Jacksonville-based graphic designer with over 30 years of experience spanning print, web, and multimedia. I graduated from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh in 1983 and my career has spanned the entire digital revolution — from paste-up boards to AI-assisted design.
I founded JOE Design, Inc. with a clear mission: to help emerging businesses establish compelling visual identities without the overhead of a big agency. Throughout my career I've collaborated with diverse clients across numerous industries, delivering creative solutions for logos, websites, trade show materials, and video productions.
Today I'm reinventing JOE Design to fully leverage AI tools alongside traditional design craft — delivering better results faster, while keeping the personal touch that makes working with a solo designer so valuable.
No account managers, no project coordinators, no communication lag. When you call, you reach me — the person actually building your site.
Experience that spans the entire history of digital design. I've seen every trend come and go and know what actually works for small business websites.
I use the latest AI tools to work smarter and faster — better graphics, sharper copy, more thorough SEO — all while keeping the creative vision yours.
Domain, hosting, design, SEO, and maintenance — all from one source. No juggling multiple vendors or trying to get them to talk to each other.
Every site I build is designed for mobile first and optimized to rank well in Google from day one, not as an afterthought.
No hidden fees, no agency markup. Flat pricing you can count on, with a free consultation before you spend a single dollar.
My career launched in the pre-digital era — I learned design fundamentals with T-squares, Rapidograph pens, and Rubylith. Then the Mac arrived and changed everything. I embraced every wave of the digital revolution: desktop publishing, the web, motion graphics, 3D, and now AI.
Today, as I embrace the new prospects and opportunities AI can offer, I reflect on how far the craft has come. Early in my career I'd design a website and hand it off to a programmer who coded the HTML by hand. Then I discovered WordPress and Divi, which finally gave me control over the design and build of a site without having to know how to code. Now I've come full circle, creating hand-built HTML sites again — but this time my programmer is Claude, an AI that helps me integrate my skillset into my daily workflow. Times have changed, but the goal hasn't. Simply put: use the best tools available to deliver the best possible results for my clients.
